      I like columnar basalt, like the rocks at Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. These are igneous rocks where as the lava slowly cooled from the top down, it cracked into hexagonal patterns (sort of like a honeycomb). This cracks then grew down as the lava continued to cool making a big collection of long hexagon pillars.

      My favourite rock is an Impactite. These form because of meteorite impacts on the Earth’s surface

      My favourite rock is italcolumite. It’s a sandstone that when cut into thin slabs is flexible. You can actually bend it between your fingers, which feels really weird!

      This is a really hard question…igneous rocks are my favourite type. BUT one of my favourite rocks is eclogite, which is actually metamorphic!
