I studied geography at GCSE and A-Levels which led me to also do it at university. When I was there I got the chance to visit glaciers in Iceland and work with some brilliant glaciologists! This really inspired me to carry on with my master’s and PhD in glaciology.

I did Geograhpy at GSCE and A-level, then realised that there was a degree path called Geology that meant I could just study the more ‘physical geography’ topics. During my master’s year at univeristy I had a module using electron microscopy and then my independent research project also used electron microscopy and automated techniques to analyse rocks. I feel in love with this way of looking at the world on the microscale, with a more creative spin on it. I decided that I wanted to use elctron microscopy in my job and was fortunate enough that after I graduated a Job as an electron microscopy technician in geosciences came up and I was hired for it!
