Question: have you ever discovered a hybrid plant?

What a great question! Funnily enough, yes I have! During my PhD, I discovered a new hybrid species on Lord Howe Island near Australia. We just published the description of this species and another new hybrid species (https://doi.org/10.1093/botlinnean/boaf112)…Its called Coprosma ptotopetra which in greek means poo (copros) smell (osma) rock fall (ptotopetra). As you can imagine, the plants don’t smell very nice and I discovered it were I had accidentally dislodged a massive boulder that nearly squashed my supervisors!
