I haven’t actually created anything, as in constructed something at a workbench, but I’ve had ideas that have led to a better understanding of the geology of different areas, which in turn has led to the discovery of mineral resources that can be used by industry. That creates wealth for the country and its people, so yes, I guess I have helped cretae something!
In my role as a Process Engineer, I am involved with designing new equipment for offshore platforms. So I have helped to design new things, which is exciting!
Hello, no I can’t say I have personally created anything new, however I do work at a company where we have scientists who create new things. Some examples are scientists creating a sonar tool which maps the seabed. The system produces sounds waves and listens for any returns, like an echo! An image of the seabed is then created and you can see lots of features such as boulders, ship wrecks and sand waves!
I’ve made a small range of new materials, some with interesting properties but none of any actual use. I’ve created a number of new tests and methods when there’s been need for them, some of which still in use and all of which are at least documented. I’ve created a handful of new words when there’s been need for them as well, most of which even I can’t remember, which will cause even me confusion if I ever go back to read my old reports.
Bit of a cheat, but I’ve created lots of science outreach content! See this video on “optimisation” theories in skeletons, climbing, and rowing with TomRocksMaths: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG5z4KcKHE4

I’ve created new software and AI tools to detect and map pollution! I’ve also created lots of films and podcasts to tell the sotries of science.
