      Now that is a tricky question.

      Different people have different approaches, but I think the critical point is to find the fun. You need to be willing to listen to feedback, be willing to throw out work you’ve done, focus on a few key ideas, and really nail them.

      Often, as a first-time developer, people focus too much on style or story, but you need to focus on the actual gameplay and iterate often.

      My recommendation would be to try out making small prototype games with a time limit at something like a hackathon to test new ideas, and check out Game Maker’s Toolkit on YouTube! There are lots of available resources.
