Plants first came from algae that lived in the oceans. Over a very long time, some of these algae adapted to life on land. They slowly developed roots, stems, leaves, and ways to survive outside water. These early land plants eventually evolved into all the types of plants we have today — trees, flowers, grasses, and more.
