      Hi, thanks for the question! Both small rocket launches and large rocket launches usually have either a ‘flame trench’ or a blast plate. These components are built really strong and hard and their purpose is to ensure that they don’t on fire and direct the fire away from areas that could go on fire. A sandy place is a great idea BUT having sand being blown into the rocket or all over the rocket is problematic.
