I would like to be able to discover one of the first intermediate mass black holes in neaby galaxies. This is a class of black holes that we don’t have a lot of information on, we know a lot about stellar mass and supermassive ones but not a lot about inbetween masses. In M82 (the galaxy I work on), one of the best candidates that we think could be an intermediate mass black hole is there and if we were able to prove that is – by looking at its radio & x-ray emission to see if its correlated, then it would be a ground breaking discovery for high energy astrophysics!
