      My favourite is this experiment where I take very thin sections of intestines and tag specific proteins or genes with fluorescent tags. Under the microscope, the protein or gene I want to see will glow bright blue, green, red or yellow. It makes some very pretty images, and I got a lot of “oooh”s at conferences.
