I really find microorganism (germs) populations interesting. We often investigate a single microorganism species on its own, but in the real world microorganisms are interacting with lots of different microorganisms. Better understanding how populations of microorganisms interact with each other could help treat infections, provide safer food and help with pollution, as populations of microorganisms are involved in all of these.
