The most interesting star I’ve worked on is called SN2008iz which is in M82, a really active nearby ‘starburst’ galaxy. This exploaded in 2008 and teams of astronomers were able to track the explosion and see the remnant (which is left behind after a star exploads) expand and interact with the surrounding galaxy environment.
