That’s a great question—and the answer really depends on the individual. Some scientists, once they reach retirement age, choose to step back and enjoy life at a slower pace. However, many—especially those in academia—remain actively involved even after retiring. They often continue to share their passion through guest lectures or ongoing research, driven by a genuine love for discovery and a desire to make a difference.
Some of them become “emeritus” professors, which means they are effectively retired and no longer get a salary from a university but may continue their work if they wish. Some go travelling, some just enjoy doing their hobbies full time! Same as most people at the end of a career I suppose!
