      I think sometimes it’s just the little discoveries, seeing something similar to someone else either in a different bacteria or observing something that’s slightly different. We use a gene reporter system, which makes a bacteria light up when a gene is switched on (transcribed). When we grow the light up bacteria in a different media that has by-products produced by another bacteria, the amount of light produced decreases. We can see this in liquid or on agar plates (nutrient jelly) which is really cool.
