The big bang is an exciting stage of the universe when it was in a very hot and dense phase (a plasma). Matter was strongly interacting and we still don’t know its precise properties. To find out what happened in this early phase of our universe, scientists are trying to recreate similar conditions in big colliders and look at extreme astrophysical objects like neutron stars.
The Big Bang was a important instant in the life of our Universe since it marks its beginning. However, there is much more to the Universe than the Big Bang… and we are gaining better and better knowledge of the processes that have seen the Universe evolve since the Big Bang.
It made everything exist, so it’s very important! But it was just the start, and lots of interesting things that we don’t understand have happened since too.
