I don’t think I ever single-handedly did anything to make the world a better place, but as a team member in the oil and gas industry I had ideas that helped us find oil and gas deposits that were then produced to provide energy for people and industry.

I agree with what Pete says below. We often collaborate with a lot of people and scientists that leads to something that helps everyone. Some of my own discoveries include how new species of bacteria I discovered transfer antibiotic resistance genes. Other that that I have used material from plants that can help improve yield of the crop and from flies that can help in wound healing. I also make sure my work impacts everyone around me and have done lots of outreach in schools as part of the world antimicrobial awareness week.
      Thank you

I’m not sure about propelling the whole of humanity in the right direction, but my team work on research that looks at a very under-studied area of health that we hope will help a group of children and young people to get better and earlier care for their condition and improve at least a few lives along the way!

I hope my LiDAR technique will enable the manufacturing industry to become more sustainable. Currently, the manufacturing industry produces a lot of waste and uses excessive power resources through inefficient techniques. My technique will propel humanity in the right direction by enabling a manufacturing future which has a minimal impact on the planet.
