• Question: is it true that its visible to see the biggest black hole from earth?

      So far we have only imaged 2 black holes. The images show glowing rings of material around a central shadow. As light cannot escape the black hole we cannot see the black hole, only the effect it has.

      The black holes we have imaged are M87* and Sagittarius A* – the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way.

      There are lots of black holes out there, so it is unlikely we have imaged the biggest black hole from Earth. We don’t yet know what the biggest black hole is.
