I mostly try to work 9-5 as well, but many scientists have to be flexible – sometimes my experiments and workload mean I have to work past 5pm or come in early, and I often have to come in on a weekend to tend to my plants or experiments – this is quite inconvenient because it takes me 45 minutes to drive to work!

I usually work from about 08:45 until 17:00, but some days I finish earlier. As a PhD student I can be very flexible with my work, so I also work from home some days. Other days can be longer if I’m in the lab.
