      Sorry for taking a while to get back to you.

      Some hospitals offer work experience but you’ll need to check the hospital website to make sure. Also hospitals are offering apprenticeships in particular departments so the details about the requirements will be on the hospital website or NHS jobs website. I’ve spent nearly 20 years working in different NHS labs, helping to test blood, urine, pus and human tissue and I’ve loved every part of it.

      There are many jobs in the NHS where they support continuing education. They will pay tuition fees and allow you some time off to study.

    There are several areas open to you within the NHS as a volunteer, many Trusts have volunteer roles that they advertise however some may have age restrictions based on the areas you would be in.

    Many now hold careers fairs where you can go and speak to individuals working in different areas to get an understanding of the role but there are now over 350 different roles so it is difficult sometimes to narrow down the field you want.

    NHS organisations are keen adopters of NHS apprenticeship schemes and nearly all of them have a STEM connection to them, I currently teach the apprentices on various different pathways so there is many different opportunities to learn.
