As a Research Scientist, my work involves leading and executing R&D projects related to catalyst development and applications, including catalyst preparation and testing, as well as catalyst characterisations. In my day-to-day work, I run an experimental rig and test various catalyst formulations in the lab. I then collect experimental data and perform data analysis. I compile the processed data and present the results to the relevant partners in my respective projects.

How I use Science in my work:
My work involves developing and using catalysts in industrial chemical processes. For example, catalysts speed up reactions without being consumed, a concept taught in school chemistry to explain how reaction rates are increased, and industrial production becomes more efficient and cost-effective.
-
My Work:
My research focuses on the development and application of catalysts in chemical industries. The aim is to contribute to the development of cleaner, more efficient catalyst materials and technologies for converting feedstocks (such as carbon dioxide, methane and biomass) into sustainable platform chemicals and hydrogen.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use the £500 prize money to support further STEM public engagement by planning and delivering an event or a workshop for students, including simple catalyst demonstrations and interactive learning materials that link classroom science to real-world industrial applications.
