We study the Universe, it could be planets, stars, galaxies, black holes or the Universe itself. Some of us use telescopes to make observations, others use computer simulations. In general we use Physics and Maths to try to understand how the Universe works. In our day-to-day work we typically focus on an open question and try to find answers for it.

They study everything that is beyond our planet Earth, and in particular the interaction between all other objects in Space. This could be other planets, comets, stars and other galaxies. They use telescopes to observe how these other objects move around in the universe. Then try to solve some of our more complex questions about how everything began, or what might happen next using very complex mathematics. For instance, right now loads of astrophysicists will be studying the movement of the 3I/Atlas object that is crossing the Solar System.
