I did a science degree and typically you need A levels in relevant subjects, however, there are many paths into science. One of my lecturers left school at 16 to be in a band and never reentered formal education except as a teacher

I think it depends on the subject and the entry requirements of the uni – some are happy to have any science, some are particular about which subject you need.

Some universities will accept entry after an HNC course rather than needing A levels. It is really worth having a chat with the admissions team at whichever uni you are interested in they will be able to let you know the requirements and if there are any adjustments that can be made based on your specific circumstances

Many universities offer foundational years or access to higher education courses. It’s worth asking the admissions team to check what options are available. There are also other ways to become a scientist, such as apprenticeships, or starting in a junior role and working your way up through on-the-job training and promotion.
