Question: what would happen if the earth and sun got to close together

Whatever happens it won’t be good for the Earth as we’d probably be too close to the Sun! This might result in a runaway greenhouse effect like on Venus or if we get closer, our atmosphere might be stripped off by the solar wind as on Mercury. Either way, there’d be no life left on Earth.
