The chance of a meteorite seriously harming someone is extremely low, as most burn up in the atmosphere and large, destructive impacts are very rare. But yes, there was one famous case of Ann Hodges of Alabama who was hit and bruised by a meteorite in 1954.

The chances of a meteorite hitting a human is very very very low. There was the Chelyabinsk meteorite which fell in 2013 that caused some injuries, however, most meteorites burn up in the atmosphere and the large majority that fall to Earth aren’t very big.

A big meteorite or asteroid is quite unlikely, however we are actually being bombarded with meteorites all the time! We call these micro-meteorites, and they’re about the size of dust particles. You’d never notice them or see them with your eyes, but scientists can still collect and study them
