If you’ve ever bought something from IKEA, you’ll know that all the items come with instructions on how to build them. DNA is quite like that. It tells us about each of the pieces of a person, how to build them and how they fit together. When you know how to read it, you understand that the way we look and the way we behave is all for a purpose or function. For example, higher pigmentation of the skin and eyes is a genetic trait that allows a person to cope better with climates greatly exposed to the sun. Having a higher pigmentation gives greater protection from UV rays which would otherwise cause a great deal of damage and bring a higher risk of cancer.
