      They do! There is a whole branch of science called Oceanography dedicated to studying the ocean. The ocean itself is a very broad topic and there is lots to study within it, so scientists are often focussed on smaller areas.

      There is lots of research happening about the sea. In fact many universities or research institutions run scientific cruises to discover more. On these cruises there are marine geologist, oceanographers and marine biologists all working together to understand more.
