Question: whatis your favorite animal

My favourite animals are elephants – I’ve never worked as a vet with elephants but when I worked for an animal welfare charity in Kenya I had the chance to visit an elephant orphanage near Nairobi where they raise young elephants who have been rescued from the wild. The young elephants are kept together as a group, with individual human carers who feed them and care for them until they’re ready to be released into a secure reserve where they can join a group of adult elephants. Elephants are incredibly intelligent, the way they communicate with each other, their human carers and other animals around them and how they learn to ‘elephant’ is incredible to see. Their family structure is fascinating, they help one another to live happily as a group and when a new baby elephant is born the whole group ‘celebrate’ their arrival!
